Established in 1964 as the School of Humanities and renamed the Faculty of Arts in 1975, the Faculty is a hub of excellence in teaching, research, and innovation in the humanities. It comprises six departments: Linguistics, African and Asian Studies; English; History and Strategic Studies; European Languages; and Philosophy.
The Faculty is dedicated to producing well-rounded graduates with strong reasoning,communication, and critical-thinking skills, grounded in humanistic values and cultural awareness. Its programmes emphasize the application of these values to contemporarysocial and global challenges.
In addition to its four-year degree programmes, the Faculty offers professionally oriented courses in translation, interpretation, and communication skills, as well as proficiency courses in French and English. A centrally equipped Language Laboratory supports these programmes.
The Faculty’s academic staff of 120 includes distinguished professors and vibrant early-career scholars engaged in cutting-edge research, supported by experienced administrative andtechnical personnel. It also maintains collaborations with the Faculties of Education and Law,and the Evening Programme.
