Prof. ADEGOKE, Kazeem Adekunle
Personal Statement
Prof. Adegoke is a professor of Religious and Contemporary Studies Specialist with a bias on Shari’ah and Fiqh (Neo-Ijtihad). He has B.A (Hons), M.A in Islamic Studies and PGDE from the University of Ibadan in 1998, 2000 and 2003 respectively, and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Islamic Studies from the University of Ilorin in 2006. He was a lecturer at Mufutau Lanihun College of Arabic and Islamic Studies (2000-2003), Mufutau Lanihun College of Education (2003-2007), Ibadan, Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo (2007-2008) and Lagos State University, Ojoo, Lagos (2008-2012). On crossing to University of Lagos in 2012, he lectured at the Religious Education Unit of the Department of Arts and Social Sciences Education under the Faculty of Education (2012-2018) and later moved to the Department of Religious Studies, Faculty of Arts where he is currently a Professor of Religious Studies. Over two decades of experience, he has conducted more than sixty researches and mentored more than fifty students in both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in his areas of specialization. He is a member of some professional and academic bodies such as Nigeria Association of Teachers of Arabic and Islamic Studies (NATAIS), Nigerian Association for the Studies of Religions (NASR), African Association for the Study of Religions (AASR), National Association for the Study of Religion and Education (NASRED) and Nigerian Association of Religious Scholars (NARES). He attended and presented papers at several academic conferences at academic environments. He has more than seventy publications to his credit from local, international and foreign referred academic journals.
