Dr. AKOREDE, Oloke Muritala
Personal Statement
Dr. Oloke Muritala Akorede is a Lecturer in the Department of Religious Studies, Faculty of Arts, University of Lagos, Nigeria. He holds a B.A. Ed. in Islamic Religious Studies (2008), M.Ed. in Islamic Religious Studies (2012), and a Ph.D. in Religious Education (2018), all from the University of Lagos.
A scholar at the intersection of tradition and innovation, Dr. Oloke’s research engages the evolving contours of Islam in the modern world. His core interests span Digital Islamic Studies, where he explores technology’s role in Islamic learning and discourse; Islamic Contemporary Issues, addressing faith, ethics, and society in a globalized age; Islamic Civilization, with attention to its intellectual and cultural heritage, Islamic Philosophy and Thought, probing the conceptual foundations of Islamic belief and practice.Through teaching, research, and public engagement at Nigeria’s first choice university, Dr. Oloke Muritala Akorede contributes to advancing critical scholarship on Islam’s historical depth and contemporary relevance.
Dr. Oloke is a Reserch Fellow with the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT), Southwest Nigeria. He is also a member of the Nigeria Association of Teachers of Arabic and Islamic Studies (NATAIS) and National Association for the Study of Religions (NASR)Aside acdemics, Dr Oloke is an Imam at University of Lagos Muslm Community Cemtral Mosque.
