Dr. ANYAGWA, Carol Ngozi
Personal Statement
Carol Ngozi ANYAGWA (PhD) is an Associate Professor at the Department of English, University of Lagos. Her research interests include English Phonetics and Phonology, English Grammar, New Media Studies, Nigerian English Studies and Sociophonetics. She has participated in many learned conferences and has published her research outputs in many reputable peer-reviewed local and international journals. Dr Anyagwa has co-edited two books – Functional Approaches to Language and Literary Studies (2021), and Nigerian English in Linguistic, Literary and Other Perspectives (2025).
She is a member of the Association of Phoneticians and Phonologists in Nigeria (APPN), the English Scholars Association of Nigeria (ESAN), the Corpus Linguistics Association of Nigeria (CLAN); and a Fellow of the Lagos Studies Association (LSA). She has contributed significantly to the profession, the University community and the country at large. She is currently a member of the University of Lagos Senate, the Deputy Director of the Centre for General Studies, University of Lagos; and Vice President of the Association of Phoneticians and Phonologists in Nigeria (APPN), and the University of Lagos Department of English Alumni (UDEA) respectively.
