Dr. ANYACHEBELU, Adaora Lois

Adaora Lois Anyachebelu holds a B.A. from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Lagos. She is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Linguistics, African and Asian Studies at the University of Lagos, where she teaches, researches and supervises research at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, mentoring students across diverse areas of language, literature, and culture.

Her scholarship engages symbolism, literature, and cultural studies, with specialized interests in folklore, onomastics, and issues of child training, and welfare. Broadly situated within Igbo Studies, especially literature and culture, she has published widely and contributes actively to conversations on indigenous knowledge systems, oral traditions, and the role of culture in social formation and identity.

Dr. Anyachebelu has held several key administrative roles, including Course Adviser, Departmental Examination Officer and member of the Faculty of Arts Curriculum Review Committee (2019/2020–2023/2024). She currently serves as Departmental Admissions Officer, Membership Secretary of the Nigeria Oral Literature Association, and an Editorial Board Member of Ugegbe: Journal of Ụwa Ndịigbo Academy.
