Dr. OGBINAKA, Oghenekaro Moses

Prof. Oghenekaro Moses Ogbinaka, also Karo Ogbinaka, is a Nigerian academic and philosopher. He lectures at the Department of Philosophy, University of Lagos; and also an Associate Academic at the Lagos Anglican Seminary. He has interest in Analytic Philosophy, Logic, Epistemology, History of Philosophy, and African philosophy. He also focuses on Christian Theology and Ethics. His main research interests include analytical philosophy and epistemology, with particular focus on thinkers like Bertrand Russell.

The intellectual approach of Karo Ogbinaka includes bridging Western analytic philosophy and African philosophical thought, especially in epistemology and logic. He holds that an ontological and epistemological relationship exists between language and logic, emphasizing that logical reasoning depends on linguistic structures.

Karo Ogbinaka is fondly associated with resisting the attempt by the Federal Government of Nigeria to rename the University of Lagos in his tenure as the Chairman, of ASUU, University of Lagos Branch; and for the slogan UNILAG FOREVER emanated. He also revitalized the UNILAG Branch of ASUU into becoming formidable Branch in Nigeria. He established UNILAG ACADEMIC COOPERATIVE MULTIPURPOSE SOCIETY (UNAMCO) that currently caters for welfare issues of academics in the University. He was the Editor of the Nigerian Journal of Philosophy of the Department of Philosophy, University of Lagos; and is the Journal longest serving editor. Currently, Karo Ogbinaka is currently the Editor of the APPON Philosophical Quarterly, A Journal of Association of Philosophy Professional of Nigeria
