Prof. BALOGUN, Leon Iyanda

Prof. Leon Iyanda Balogun is a Professor in the Department of European Languages & Integration Studies, Faculty of Arts, University of Lagos. His scholarship and teaching focus on Francophone African literature, French language studies, and African & Caribbean literatures.

He obtained his Ph.D. in Francophone African Literature from the University of Ilorin (2007–2012), an M.A. in Translation (French) from the University of Ibadan (2002–2003), and a B.A. Ed. in French from Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo. (Formerly Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo) (1989–1991). Prof. Balogun has been teaching French as a foreign language and African & Caribbean literatures since 2003. Before joining UNILAG, he was an Enseignant/Chercheur at the Nigeria French Language Village, Badagry, where he contributed to language immersion and teacher training programmes. Research Interests: Francophone African literary criticism, postcolonial studies, French language pedagogy, cultural identity in African & Caribbean texts, and integration studies.
