Personal Statement

M.A. African Linguistics; Dr. phil. African Linguistics; Dr. habil. African Linguistics

As a dedicated linguist, my academic journey has been driven by a deep curiosity for the cultural and linguistic diversity of the African continent. My research and teaching experiences across Germany, Uganda, Ethiopia, and Nigeria have strengthened my commitment to understanding and preserving African languages, while fostering cross-cultural dialogue by teaching German Studies across different sub-Saharan African countries. Besides research and teaching, I am a specialist of higher education management, especially regarding tertiary education in sub-Saharan Africa and relations between higher education institutions in sub-Saharan Africa and Germany. As such I worked as DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) Resident Representative in Uganda (as well as in Nigeria now), Director of the DAAD Information Centre in Ethiopia and Senior Consultant at the DAAD head office in Bonn/Germany. I have also worked as an international election observer for the Federal Foreign Office of Germany and as Senior Expert for the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
